Eileen and Tim: A Cottesloe Civic Centre Wedding

When Eileen and Tim told me they were planning a small wedding in the Secret Garden at Cottesloe Civic Centre, on a Thursday morning with relaxed picnic vibes, I was sold! The Secret Garden area is shaded all day and protected from the wind, which is lucky as you’ll see from the windy beach photos we attempted!
We started photographs at their little Airbnb down the road, where they dared to get ready together in the same 1 bedroom apartment with their wedding crew – taking turns to get ready in the bedroom and miraculously avoiding seeing each other before the ceremony. I actually love the chaos of getting ready like this – it reminds me of the days where you’d get ready with all your friends for a big night out!
Celebrant, Lisa Webb, chosen for her claim to be fun AND love Disney (which was very important to Eileen and Tim) was ready to meet them as they arrived, and then they kickstarted the ceremony by having Eileen and her bridesmaids walking down the romantic and iconic stairs into the Secret Garden. Eileen and Tim stood elevated on the stairs so all the guests could see them.
After a hilarious and fun ceremony (Lisa WAS the perfect choice), they signed the paperwork and then kicked off drinks and the grazing board. After they’d mingled with their guests for a bit, we escaped off for some quick portraits around the Civic Centre gardens, even braving the windy beach briefly! They then rejoined their guests for family portraits and picnic time and then I left them to laze about on the picnic blankets. It was the perfect, relaxed picnic wedding!
