Brooke and Hannah: An Anderson Point Wedding

When I asked Brooke and Hannah what the overall vibe of their wedding was, they told me they wanted to be relaxed and just go with the flow, so I knew that choosing Anderson Point as their wedding venue was the perfect choice. Based in the Perth Hills, in a private property bordering the Walyunga National Park, Anderson Point has one of Perth’s dreamiest backdrops. The ceremony space is a cleared space of red dirt on a ledge overlooking uninterupted views of native scrub and rolling hills and Perth city in the far distance.
Anderson Point caters to small and intimate weddings or elopements with 30 people or less, so Brooke and Hannah’s guest list of 20 family and friends was perfect.
You wouldn’t believe it from the photos, but there was a looming thunderstorm that afternoon. Dark clouds were nearby and as Anderson Point has no permanent shelter, we had to be prepared to leave. Being in such an isolated spot on a ledge, for safety reasons we had to park cars close by for a quick exit should the thunderstorm get too close. Guests stayed in their cars until just before the brides arrived in their luxury wedding cars.
Reilly (Reilly Craig Musician) began playing an amazing acoustic set as the brides arrived separately, each in a Rolls Royce limonsuine with their parents. As they both took their turn getting out of the car it was as if the clouds parted and the sun came out to shine down on them. The thunderstorm was heading away – what incredible luck!
Brooke and Hannah met at the end of the aisle and saw each other for the first time, taking a moment to say hello and allow their parents to walk ahead and take a seat. Then Brooke and Hannah walked together down the aisle and to the arbor to join their celebrant Candice Bydder (Celebrations by Candice).
Candice performed a beautiful ceremony, and instructed the brides to take a a special moment to each place their engagement rings on top of their newly adorned wedding rings. They showed the crowd their new bling and were met with applause. After signing the paperwork they shared a first kiss and then the bubble machines made a memorable exit up to the reception level of Anderson Point.
At the top of the stairs they were met by Anderson Point owners Carrie and Guy who immediately poured them a celebratory sparkling wine. Their guests joined them on the upper level to congratulate the pair and come together for a big group photo. We took this time to get some family photos and then escaped the group for some more intimate couple portraits.
We took this opportunity to get some photos with the beautiful Rolls Royce car before heading up the hill, following the winding path, to get some photos amongst the native bushland and wandoo trees. The great thing about Anderson Point is that a five minute walk up the hill will give you a great variety of photos amongst nature, so you don’t have to spend a long time (or distance) away from your family and friends to get good portraits.
After about 20 minutes of photos we came back down the hill so Brooke and Hannah could rejoin their guests and enjoy another drink and the catering by Nosh (Nosh Catering).
Eventually we got the gluten-free wedding cake (Champagne and Gumboots) for Brooke and Hannah to cut in front of everyone – and enjoy a first bite! Then we went down to the ceremony level and to the beautiful acoustic set by Reilly, the girls enjoyed an impromptu dance. All their guests naturally gathered around to watch, and next thing you know they had created a circle around the girls, holding hands and watching on. Eventually a few couples joined in.
With the sun beginning to set over the rolling hills, everybody gathered together to enjoy the view and eat some cake and once the sun went behind the hill and we started to lose light, we all gathered up our things to leave. We all reflected on how the afternoon had begun with worry of a looming thunderstorm, and we couldn’t believe how the weather had completely turned around and provided the most magical evening for Brooke and Hannah and their gorgeous, intimate wedding.
