Ash and Leigh: A Vin and Flower Wedding

Kat Wray

A bride and groom kiss at their wedding ceremony at Vin and Flower. The bride wears a short dress and her veil is blowing in the breeze. The groom wearings a tuxedo. Some flowers sit on a plinth behind them in front of a recycled red brick wall.

Ash and Leigh are pretty easy going people who don’t like a big fuss made of them, so when they told me they wanted their wedding to be casual and fun I knew I was the right photographer for them! Ash and Leigh enjoy having a laugh and spending time with their family and small circle of friends and they wanted their wedding to be much the same. So a relaxed inner city wedding at Vin and Flower in Northbridge was the perfect way to get married. Vin and Flower is a converted warehouse and courtyard space so everything is in the one spot AND they offer furniture hire. What’s not to like!

Leigh and the guests hung out in the courtyard waiting for Ash’s arrival. It was a warm December day so the guests had Sunbrella umbrellas to shade them. Ash’s sisters, niece and nephew came down the aisle followed by Ash and her brother and then their super chill ceremony by Celebrant, Glen Adams, began. I always love working with Glen, he has a super calming nature and his ceremonies are the perfect mix of romantic and funny!

Straight after the ceremony, they made a fast exit into the indoor warehouse space so they could rehydrate and head off for portraits. Like a lot of couples I photograph, their priority was having a good time with their guests, so we didn’t want to take too long. We walked the nearby neighbourhood and were back within half an hour to rejoin guests having drinks and canapes in the courtyard. We smashed out some family photos and then they were able to catch up with all their guests.

Once it was sunset, the guests were all moved inside to begin the speeches and then kick off the dance floor!
