Website design.
I design beautiful websites for small business owners who need an online web presence, but whose reputations usually speak for themselves.
I can design a beautiful website, but there are a few factors that make a successful website:
-
Informative
-
Search Engine Optimised
-
Attractive
-
Friendly user experience
-
Having purpose
Your website is like your online business card.
Gone are the days where you simply handed over a business card. Today you really need an online presence to feel legitimate!
I'm really passionate about designing beautiful websites for Perth based small business owners. I also work with some other great Perth freelancer specialists to give your website the best chance at success.
Let me break it down for you...
Step 1: The content.
Let people know who you are and what you do.
I can't start designing a website until I have the content (i.e. the words!). I fully recommend hiring a professional copywriter to write the content for your website so the messages are clear and the descriptions are concise.
I will suggest a great Perth based copywriter for this work, and will provide you their details so you can liaise with them directly (I don’t make a cut, they are engaged separately).
Step 2: SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
Build your website so the right people find you.
SEO stands for “search engine optimisation” and is the process of getting organic web traffic to your website (i.e. not paid), or more specifically optimising a website so users can find you using specific search terms (i.e. "Perth gelato”). To optimise your website you need to tell search engines what your website is about and why people should visit it.
But it’s a bit more complicated than that, especially if being on the first page for your search term is important to you (i.e. “Perth gelato”) . A great introduction to how Google Search works is in this easy 5 minute video.
Good SEO means:
-
Rich content - use those keywords that matter
(like making sure you have the words “Perth” and “gelato” in your content) -
Smart content – think about your users and play by the SEO rules
(like including the word “icecream” or “Subiaco” or "best gelato in Perth") -
Meta-tags - the behind-the-scenes stuff created for the search engines
(like hand delivering a list of smart keywords to Google) -
Alt Text for Images - search engines can’t ‘read’ pictures (although that technology is actually improving!) so describe it accordingly
(describe that killer hero image “salted caramel and praline gelato in a handmade waffle cone”)
I will engage a great Perth based SEO specialist for this work, and will provide you their details so you can liaise with them directly (I don’t make a cut, they are engaged separately).
Step 3: A good looking website.
This is the easy part and where I finally come in!
I will design your website from scratch and present it in a way that makes for a great user experience. It will be mobile and tablet friendly. The system will be easy to use and training will be provided (don't worry, it's easy). Some clients opt to retain my services for all website updates.
Step 4: A good user experience.
I’m really passionate about information design, that is presenting information in an easy to understand way. I want it to be easy for your potential customer to find what they need to know and feel like the experience was easy and friendly.
Step 5: Plan for purpose.
I get each client to complete a brief so I know exactly what your website needs to achieve. What is your website’s purpose? What do you want the customer to do?
